Happy Easter!
Getting Started with TitanFall 2 Multiplayer
TitanFall 2 is a brilliant FPS that I loved playing for the campaign. The multiplayer modes are great too but can take a bit of adjusting to. It’s strongly tied to movement with loads of tricks and quirks for doing awesomely cool things. Unfortunately what that meant for me starting out was I got killed repeatedly by other people doing awesomely cool things while I flailed about randomly.
So here’s a few tips in how to get started, do decently in games and not just be a slightly more-animated target dummy. Continue reading “Getting Started with TitanFall 2 Multiplayer”
1.44 Megabytes of PC Gaming Nostalgia
I’ve been playing computer games a long time and for most of that time I’ve been playing games on a PC. While I was clearing out some old stuff I found some relics of the old days 🙂 Continue reading “1.44 Megabytes of PC Gaming Nostalgia”
PowerShell: Display A Menu And Get a Valid Choice
While it’s normally best practice to not display anything on the host and to batch as much as possible with PowerShell; sometimes you need a UI. Here’s a pair of functions to display a menu on the screen, automatically number the possible responses and only return when a valid choice is made. Continue reading “PowerShell: Display A Menu And Get a Valid Choice”
Torment: Tides of Numenara Spoiler-Free Review
The original Planescape: Torment is one of my 3 favourite games of all time. The actual order of the three varies a bit depending on which cool bits I remember and how I’m feeling at the time but Torment is probably on the top-spot the most.
I kickstarted Tides of Numenera immediately; a spiritual successor to my (mostly) favourite game of all time ? Yes please!
It’s taken a while, but it’s here. Yay! And I’ve played it! Double-yay! And now, I’ve finished it. Boo.
Here’s some thoughts about it… Continue reading “Torment: Tides of Numenara Spoiler-Free Review”
Pirates of Penzance in London
Our family got tickets for Christmas and we we’re looking forward to seeing it (though the kids we’re a bit unsure about what it was; “Is an Opera a musical? What’s the difference?”. A good question that :D)
I was expecting to go an appreciate the music and singer’s talent, but it was actually tonnes of fun. Continue reading “Pirates of Penzance in London”
PowerShell: Synchronizing a Folder (and Sub-Folders) Part 10
Hi. In this part I add some text logging to the script. Not much else I can say really 🙂 Continue reading “PowerShell: Synchronizing a Folder (and Sub-Folders) Part 10”
Fixes for the “Steam Stuck at a Blank Screen” Issue
This has been broken for me for months, but recently I found a fix. Using the Steam application, all you can do is browse your library. The store, community, forums etc; all don’t work. If you use Big Picture mode, everything is great. If you use a normal browser, everything is great.
Steam though?
B0rked.
Steam support gave up after a couple of suggestions. But after working through many possible fixes, I worked out what was wrong. Continue reading “Fixes for the “Steam Stuck at a Blank Screen” Issue”
How to Get Started In Elite: Dangerous
I spend lots of time playing Elite. I’ve been playing since release and I’m still learning stuff about it. Which is great, as there’s always something new to discover.
But if you’re new to the game, it can seem a bit intimidating. I remember being overwhelmed when I first started playing with some disastrous results…
So if you’re starting from fresh, what’s a good start? Continue reading “How to Get Started In Elite: Dangerous”
PowerShell: Tutorial 2, “Teach a Man to Fish” or Working Out The Command You Need
A series of tutorials, or How To Get Started With PowerShell: “It’s Awesome” edition.
The title was originally built around “Teach A Man A Cmdlet and he PowerShells for a day; Teach a Man to Use Get-Command and he PowerShell’s for a lifetime.” But it got more and more clumsy and convoluted so I finally decided that there really was a limit to my own cleverness.
PowerShell really is quite clever though and makes it really easy to work out the cmdlets you want to use for any task. Continue reading “PowerShell: Tutorial 2, “Teach a Man to Fish” or Working Out The Command You Need”
